Sedimentological Analysis & Core Description
Input Data
- Borehole images
- GR
- Bulk Density, Neutron, Pe
- Resistivity
- Core, if any
Workflow
- Borehole images are interpreted with sedimentary structure types, textural description as well as structural dip determined;
- Lithology is defined using open-hole logs;
- Grain size might be derivable integrtaing a few open-hole logs with images when some whole core is available for calibration;
- Core, if available, is described with lithology, grain-size and other textural details, sedimentary structures, bioturbation, fossile, facies contact, etc.
- Facies & facies association determination;
- Sequence trends & contact types;
- Paleocurrent analysis;
- Depostional environment interpretation.
Output
- Sedimentary structure & texture description
- Paleocurrent orientation & predicted likely sandbody geometry
- Electro-facies output
- Facies association & depositional environmental interpretation
Benefits
- Fast turn around time.
- Continuous electro-facies for entire logged zone
- Paleocurrent orientation without oriented core
- Facies association & understood depositional environment
- Prediction of likely sandbody geometry
Core Description

- Diagenetic features evident in core (nodules, cementation, etc).
- Faults and fractures
- Bioturbation index
- Hydrocarbon staining.
- Degree of cementation
- Bed thicknesses
