Reservoir Heterogeneity Analysis using RH-Ana@

Challenges

   

  • Reservoir heterogeneity exists in  conventional clastic reservoirs, regardless of their original depositional environments;
  • Such heterogeneity may be observed on multiple scales from wellbore to reservoir level;
  • Understanding the various scales of heterogeneity in sand reservoirs is critical for various benefits including better well placement for development drilling, optimized well pattern for producers and injectors in order to achieve best possible sweep efficiency and recovery. 

Our Solution

At BRG, we developed a unique workflow - RH-Aan@ to address the reservoir heterogeneity problems. The workflow includes followings: 


  • Interpreting all electro-facies using borehole images calibrated with core;
  • Studying all mudstone or shaly zones in detail based on available data;
  • Characterizing each shaly zone in terms of type, thickness, geometry, etc. and understanding each shale’s position in the depositional sequence;
  • Evaluating each sandy facies and shaly facies’ reservoir properties – Kv, Kh, and NTG - using a proven, advanced modeling technology that integrates core or sidewall core analysis data, petrophysical data and dynamic data, i.e. MDT data, PLT data, and well testing, if available;
  • Upscaling porosity and directional perm properties using an advanced flow-simulation technique and outputting upscaled properties for client’s field scale reservoir modeling/simulation input;
  • Recommendations.
